Jason G. Halbert, PsyD is a behavioral science expert with 20+ years of experience in the fields of influence, persuasion, assessment, and personnel selection. Dr. Halbert has practiced in an array of settings and conditions, including that of a technology executive, military officer, and judicial system legal consultant. Halbert holds a doctorate and two master’s degrees in the field of psychology.

As an early executive at Snap Inc. (Snapchat), Dr. Halbert helped shape the company during its hyper-growth phase as the VP of People. He expanded the company from 100 employees to approximately 4,000 over the course of five years. He helped lead Snapchat through its initial public offering and was a senior advisor to Evan Spiegel and Bobby Murphy, the founders of Snapchat for approximately 5 years. At Snap Inc. Dr. Halbert was initially hired as the Director of Special Projects, where he helped lead international expansion, corporate intelligence, market atmospherics, and the creation of the first advertising sales team. He was promoted from Director of Special Projects to Vice President of Recruiting then ultimately to Vice President, People and Global Security in 2017 where he led all recruiting, operations, people analytics, diversity initiatives, human resources, learning & development, compensation/benefits, and global security. During this hypergrowth phase of Snapchat, his team grew from a footprint of a few locations to eventually expanding into 30 cities in more than 15 countries. He invested heavily in diversity, and his team was able to achieve diversity hiring metrics related to URMs and female leadership well above industry standards in technology. Dr. Halbert led all of Snap’s Global Security. He built and led a culture of security based on risk assessment, risk mitigation and controls, and a common mission to protect Snap’s people, property, brand and reputation. His responsibilities included: physical security, security technology, guard force management, employee training and awareness, access control, business continuity, crisis management, disaster recovery, EHS, intelligence, enterprise security risk management, investigations and insider threat.


During his time in the military, Dr. Halbert achieved the rank of Major as he served as an Advanced Operational Psychologist in the United States Army Special Operations Command, holding a Top-Secret security clearance. During his eight years with the Department of Defense, Dr. Halbert was honored to serve the country among several classified units, deploying four times in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Dr. Halbert is a recipient of the F. Edward Hebert Military Scholarship and was selected as Doctoral Intern of the Year. He was also awarded Junior Officer of the Year by the United States Army Surgeon General and received the Medical Service Corps Award of Excellence. Dr. Halbert received the Bronze Star for combat operations in Afghanistan.

Following his military service (and prior to Snap), Dr. Halbert served as a legal and crisis consultant for several Fortune 50 companies. In this role, Dr. Halbert specialized in jury behavior and decision-making on civil cases involving intellectual property, product liability, and professional malpractice. Through the use of focus groups, mock trials, and surveys, Dr. Halbert conducted empirically-based research to assist litigation, jury selection, and case evaluation.

Dr. Halbert previously practiced as a clinical psychologist trained in forensic psychology. As a clinician, he has evaluated and/or treated over 500 violent criminals, 40 serial criminals, and 162 convicted murderers. He completed his doctoral dissertation on Psychopathy and Violence Prediction. Much of Dr. Halbert’s pro bono time is dedicated to consulting and training many of the nation’s finest law enforcement agencies.

Dr. Halbert’s career has afforded him the opportunity to be exposed to a wide spectrum of human dynamics in a variety of settings and cultures around the world. From this, Dr. Halbert has developed a passion for better understanding the deep, underlying motivation of people in order to enhance their performance and shape teams to be kinetic and creative.
